Jeff Klosky – Pilot

My passion for aviation started at age 7, when I flew on a commercial airliner to visit family. At age 16, I was driving to the airport to take flying lessons, and earned my Private Pilot’s License prior to joining the US Air Force to become a military pilot. I completed USAF pilot training and became a T-37 Instructor Pilot for the first four years of my career. After, I went on to fly the U-2 and T-38. In my 23 year career, I became only the 3rd active duty pilot to log more than 2500 hours in the U-2’s 65+ year history. Now retired, I am a commercial airline pilot – a 737 First Officer. I’ve been volunteering as a pilot with Dream Flights since 2020 after seeing a friend, and fellow U-2 Pilot, “Egg” Smith talk of his experiences.
Q: Why do you volunteer for Dream Flights?
A: I enjoy being part of a bigger story: whether it is protecting our nation or giving back to those who served before. The Stearman is the icing on the cake. The open cockpit biplane with the wind in your hair, its iconic status and classic good looks, and the challenge it can be to fly are an amazing part of the experience, but the best part is touching the lives of those who have done so much for this country. We aim to make the Dream Flight experience the best day of the rest of their lives and I think we consistently pull that off for our flyers and their families. I like to say that I will fly these Stearmans from the back seat (volunteer pilot) until they make me move to the front seat (Veteran passenger). The Dream Flights Team is made up of the highest caliber humans and it is an honor to be a part of this team.
